Is my profile data secure?
Lifekey® is based on blockchain technology and uses private and public "keys" to manage access to data. Your private key (unique ID) is stored in the cloud and is encrypted both in transit and at rest. Your devices also use unique keys for identification. Lifekey® technology was also developed to be HIPAA compliant.

Is this a dog tracker?
No. Fetch® is a smart, digital ID tag. When someone finds your lost pet and taps on the tag, you'll receive a notification on your phone with the GPS location of your pet.

Does someone need the app to view my pet's info?
There is no app needed to scan and access a Lifekey. Most modern phones will work straight away, but there are exceptions. For older iPhones (released before 2016) you can use the NFC scanner in the control center to scan.

An app is required to setup your own device or a device you manage.

Will it work without cell service?
The consumer version of Lifekey® requires an internet connection to send/receive information. Data is encrypted and stored in the cloud.

How is this different from a microchip?
Lifekey® Tap® technology turns the traditional dog tag into a smart pet ID that can store your pet's contact information, health data, and notify you when it's scanned. Think of it like a microchip that anyone with a smartphone can access (not just a vet). And, unlike those embedded microchips, Fetch® isn't invasive -- it's safe, quiet, and provides new peace of mind to you and your favorite pet! 🐶

Is this better than Bluetooth?
Unlike Bluetooth trackers, Fetch® works anywhere, not just within 200ft of your phone. There are no batteries to charge and nothing dangerous inside (like a battery) that your dog could ingest! Best part?! There's no app needed when someone finds your pet! 🙌

What about QR Codes on dog tags?
QR codes work for menus, not for playful pups. It's an older technology that relies on printing or paint and can easily degrade from tags over time. To scan, you'll need to hold steady and likely be required to enter long ID numbers and PINs to make them work (since they're not individually serialized). Lastly, we polled our canine focus groups and they don't think QR codes are very flattering either. 🐾

Is it waterproof?
Yes, all Lifekey® devices are designed and built to withstand outdoor pursuits as well as daily use.

Is there a warranty?
You bet! Checkout our support page for details on our Anytime, one time warranty!

Is my phone compatible?
iPhone

iOS 11 and iPhone 7 and up are compatible with Lifekey. iPhone 7 was the first iPhone that had the capability to read NFC outside of Apple Pay.

Android

Lifekey® will work with most Android phones. However, there are a few exceptions that include less popular phones. See this list.

Do I need to charge it?
Nope. Lifekey® harnesses its energy from a smartphone when it is tapped. You'll never have to replace batteries or recharge!

Are there any health risks?
Lifekey devices with NFC technology use the low-end of the electromagnetic spectrum. The waves coming from readers are no more dangerous than the waves coming to your car radio.
